Everyone Deserves a Health Care Home
Health care is a national problem that is hitting Ohio hard. Medicaid is the second biggest state budget item, and the numbers just keep growing.
No one wants to turn their back on Ohio's families and children when they are sick or in pain. But we need to do something about the rising costs - not just immediately, but over the long term.
Through the Health Care Home concept, Care Coordination Plans make sure that Ohioans see their doctors regularly and are empowered to follow doctors' advice so they can feel better quicker when they are sick, and take control of their own well being with preventive care to keep them well.
At the same time, Care Coordination means budget predictability for Ohio, since the state sets the dollar amount per enrollee once a year, and the Plans pay providers for all the care each person receives, no matter how much that turns out to be.
There are some individuals who do not have access to a Health Care Home. We urge our state lawmakers to remove the barriers to this kind of holistic access so all Ohioans that need a Health Care Home can obtain one.
